As a General Farm Worker – Harvesting at Growmore Farm Ltd., you will play a vital role in our seasonal harvesting operations. This hands-on position involves working directly with crops in the field and greenhouse environments, ensuring that our produce is harvested at peak quality and prepared for distribution. You will work as part of a dedicated team under the supervision of experienced farm managers who will guide you through every step of the process.

Key Responsibilities
- Crop Harvesting: Hand-pick vegetables and fruits including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and leafy greens according to quality standards and ripeness criteria
- Sorting & Grading: Sort harvested produce by size, quality, and ripeness; remove damaged or defective items to ensure only premium products reach the market
- Packing & Packaging: Carefully pack harvested crops into crates, boxes, and containers following specific packaging guidelines and weight requirements
- Field Maintenance: Assist with general farm maintenance tasks including weeding, pruning, and cleaning of greenhouse and field areas
- Equipment Operation: Operate basic farm equipment and tools such as harvesting knives, pruning shears, and wheelbarrows (training provided)
- Quality Control: Monitor crop conditions and report any signs of disease, pests, or other issues to supervisors promptly
- Irrigation Support: Assist with watering systems and ensure crops receive adequate hydration, particularly during dry periods
- Loading & Transport: Help load packed produce onto trucks and transport vehicles for delivery to processing facilities and markets
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all farm safety protocols, wear provided protective equipment, and maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with fellow farm workers and supervisors to meet daily production targets and deadlines
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (sun, rain, heat)
- Basic English communication skills (understand instructions and safety protocols)
- Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 25 kg (55 lbs) repeatedly
- Reliable and punctual with strong work ethic
- Valid work permit or eligibility to work in Canada (we assist with visa sponsorship)
Preferred
- Previous farm or agricultural experience (not mandatory)
- Experience operating farm machinery or equipment
- Knowledge of crop handling and harvesting techniques
- Ability to work at heights (greenhouse work)
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Forklift operator certification
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends during peak season
