Job Description
Toor Labour Contracting Ltd. is seeking an experienced and motivated Farm Workers Supervisor to lead agricultural teams across multiple farm operations in the Abbotsford area. This is a full-time permanent position offering $22.10 per hour with opportunities for advancement within our growing labour contracting enterprise.
As a Farm Workers Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating, assigning, and supervising the daily work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers deployed to various client farms. You will ensure that all agricultural operations run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with farm safety, bio-security, and food safety standards. This role is ideal for individuals with hands-on agricultural experience who are ready to take on leadership responsibilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with farm managers, contractors, and workers to implement production schedules, train new employees, maintain equipment, and uphold the high standards of quality that Toor Labour Contracting Ltd. is known for in the Fraser Valley agricultural community.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, assign, and supervise the work of general farm workers, harvesting labourers, and specialized machinery operators across multiple client farm sites
- Oversee daily planting, cultivating, spraying, irrigating, and harvesting operations according to farm-specific protocols and seasonal schedules
- Supervise and monitor crop health, identifying signs of disease, pests, or nutrient deficiencies and reporting findings to farm managers
- Develop and implement work schedules and establish operational procedures to maximize productivity and efficiency across contracted teams
- Ensure all farm safety, food safety, security, and bio-security procedures are strictly followed by all team members at all work sites
- Train new workers on proper techniques for crop handling, equipment operation, and safety protocols before deployment to client farms
- Supervise maintenance and repair of farm machinery, tools, and equipment used by contracted workers
- Maintain accurate quality control records, production logs, attendance records, and daily progress reports for client billing
- Monitor inventory levels of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and equipment supplies; coordinate reordering as needed
- Enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of agricultural chemicals
- Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures for contracted operations
- May perform general farm duties during peak periods or when staffing requires additional hands-on support
- Operate and oversee farm machinery including tractors, harvesters, sprayers, and irrigation equipment as needed
- Act as liaison between farm owners, contractors, and workers to resolve operational issues and ensure client satisfaction
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent
- 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in farm operations, agricultural labour, or supervisory roles
- Proven ability to supervise and coordinate the work of multiple employees in an outdoor or barn setting
- Fluent English communication skills (oral and written) for instructions, safety briefings, record keeping, and client interaction
- Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between multiple farm sites in the Abbotsford area
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
Preferred
- Previous experience supervising farm workers or harvesting crews in berry, vegetable, poultry, or mixed crop operations in the Fraser Valley
- Knowledge of crop cultivation practices specific to the Fraser Valley region (blueberries, raspberries, corn, poultry, greenhouse vegetables)
- Familiarity with farm machinery operation and basic mechanical troubleshooting
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Pesticide applicator license or willingness to obtain provincial certification
- Food safety training certification (e.g., CanadaGAP, HACCP awareness)
- Previous experience working with farm labour contractors or temp agencies
