Job Description

McBurney Farm is seeking hardworking and reliable Farm Workers to join our agricultural team for the upcoming growing and harvest seasons. This hands-on role is essential to our daily operations, involving crop cultivation, equipment operation, and general farm maintenance. Key Responsibilities

  • Plant, fertilize, cultivate, spray, and irrigate crops according to seasonal schedules and farm protocols
  • Harvest crops including grains, vegetables, and specialty produce using manual techniques and machinery
  • Operate and maintain farm equipment such as tractors, harvesters, seeders, and irrigation systems
  • Inspect crops for signs of disease, pests, or poor health and report findings to the farm supervisor
  • Sort, weigh, and pack harvested produce for transport and market distribution
  • Load and unload crates, supplies, and farm produce using proper lifting techniques
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning of farm buildings, barns, storage areas, and equipment
  • Assist with soil preparation, bed formation, and field drainage maintenance
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Adhere to environmental regulations and sustainable farming practices
  • Monitor and maintain optimal growing conditions including water lines and temperature controls
  • Complete daily progress reports and inventory records as required

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold)

  • Reliable transportation to the farm location in Chatham-Kent, Ontario
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or valid work permit)

  • Previous experience in agriculture, landscaping, or outdoor manual labour
  • Familiarity with farm machinery operation and basic mechanical repair
