Job Description

MTY Food Group is seeking experienced and passionate Food & Beverage Managers to lead restaurant operations across our diverse portfolio of brands in Canada. As a Food & Beverage Manager, you will be the driving force behind delivering exceptional dining experiences while ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and team development.

This role is ideal for hospitality professionals who thrive in fast-paced environments and are ready to take ownership of a restaurant’s success. You will oversee both front-of-house and back-of-house operations, manage a team of dedicated staff, and work closely with franchise owners and corporate leadership to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily restaurant operations including opening and closing procedures, service flow, and quality control
  • Ensure consistent adherence to brand standards for food quality, presentation, and service excellence
  • Monitor and optimize restaurant workflows to maximize efficiency during peak and non-peak hours
  • Conduct regular operational audits and implement corrective actions where needed
  • Manage reservations, seating arrangements, and special events as applicable

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor front-of-house and back-of-house team members
  • Create and manage staff schedules ensuring adequate coverage while controlling labor costs
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching to develop team capabilities
  • Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture that aligns with MTY’s values
  • Resolve workplace conflicts and address disciplinary matters professionally and fairly

Financial Management

  • Manage profit and loss statements, budgets, and cost controls for food, beverage, labor, and operating expenses
  • Monitor sales trends, analyze financial reports, and implement strategies to drive revenue growth
  • Control inventory levels, minimize waste, and negotiate with vendors for quality products at competitive prices
  • Process invoices, manage cash handling procedures, and ensure accurate daily sales reporting

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with all federal, provincial, and municipal food safety regulations
  • Implement and maintain HACCP standards and sanitation protocols
  • Conduct regular health and safety inspections of kitchen equipment, dining areas, and storage facilities
  • Manage alcohol service compliance where applicable, including Smart Serve certification requirements
  • Ensure workplace safety standards are met and emergency procedures are in place

Guest Experience & Marketing

  • Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally
  • Build relationships with regular customers and gather feedback to improve service
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to execute local promotions, loyalty programs, and community events
  • Maintain the restaurant’s online presence including review management and social media engagement

Qualifications & Skills

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in food service management, preferably in quick-service or casual dining
  • Proven track record of managing P&L statements and achieving financial targets
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English; French bilingualism is a strong asset
  • Valid Smart Serve certification (or provincial equivalent) for alcohol service management
  • Food Handler’s Certificate and knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Proficiency in restaurant management software, POS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 kg

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience with MTY brands or similar multi-unit franchise operations
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and supply chain logistics
  • Experience with digital marketing and social media management for restaurants
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR
