Original Joe’s is seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee cleanliness, sanitation, and facility maintenance standards across our restaurant locations in Canada. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of housekeeping and cleaning staff across assigned Original Joe’s restaurant locations
- Develop and implement comprehensive cleaning schedules for dining areas, kitchens, restrooms, bars, patios, and back-of-house spaces
- Conduct regular inspections of all restaurant areas to ensure compliance with company cleanliness standards and provincial health regulations
- Train new housekeeping team members on proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, equipment use, and safety protocols
- Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages
- Ensure all sanitation procedures meet or exceed local health department requirements, including food safety and workplace safety standards
- Address and resolve any cleanliness or maintenance issues promptly, coordinating with restaurant management and maintenance teams when necessary
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, inspections, supply usage, and staff schedules
- Enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all cleaning chemicals are stored and handled safely
- Collaborate with restaurant managers and kitchen supervisors to align housekeeping operations with daily service schedules and special events
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in cleaning operations without compromising quality
- Respond to guest feedback related to cleanliness and take immediate corrective action to resolve concerns
Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in hospitality or facilities management is an asset
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in housekeeping, cleaning, janitorial services, or facilities supervision
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience supervising or mentoring a small team
- Thorough understanding of sanitation standards, cleaning chemicals, and proper equipment usage
- Knowledge of provincial health and safety regulations applicable to restaurant and food service environments
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Physical ability to stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform cleaning duties as needed
- Flexibility to work various shifts including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in restaurant, hotel, or hospitality housekeeping supervision
- Familiarity with WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) and occupational health and safety protocols
- Food Safe Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Experience with inventory management systems and supply ordering processes
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for scheduling, reporting, and communication
- Bilingual abilities (English/French) considered an asset for certain locations
