Job Description

Hilton Canada is seeking experienced, motivated, and people-focused Supervisors to lead operational teams across our portfolio of hotels and resorts. In this role, you will oversee a specific department (housekeeping, front desk, food & beverage, engineering, or security) during assigned shifts, managing everything from staff scheduling and quality control to guest issue resolution and inventory management. You will serve as a role model for Hilton’s culture of hospitality, demonstrating the behaviors and standards you expect from your team while creating an environment where people want to come to work.

This position is ideal for hospitality professionals who have mastered their craft and are ready to take on leadership responsibilities. Whether you are a seasoned Room Attendant stepping up to Housekeeping Supervisor, a Front Desk Agent advancing to Front Office Supervisor, or a Line Cook moving into Kitchen Supervisor, Hilton provides the structured training, mentorship, and career pathways to help you succeed in management. Many of Hilton’s General Managers and corporate leaders began their journeys as Supervisors.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for guest escalations, complaints, and special requests during your shift
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring recovery actions turn negative experiences into positive ones
  • Maintain visibility in guest areas to proactively identify and address service opportunities
  • Ensure that VIP guests, Hilton Honors members, and special occasion guests receive personalized attention
  • Review guest feedback and online reviews to identify trends and implement corrective actions

Administrative & Financial Management

  • Complete daily shift reports, incident documentation, and operational logs accurately and on time
  • Manage department inventory, supplies, and equipment, placing orders and controlling costs within budget parameters
  • Process payroll timekeeping, approve overtime, and manage labor costs in alignment with productivity targets
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and expense management as directed by department management
  • Maintain accurate records for training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Enforce workplace safety standards and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations
  • Conduct safety inspections, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence

Frequently Asked Questions

What departments hire Supervisors at Hilton?

Hilton Canada regularly hires Supervisors across Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Engineering, and Security departments. Each department has specific operational requirements, but the core leadership skills — team development, guest focus, and operational excellence — remain consistent.

Do I need a degree to become a Supervisor?

A degree is preferred but not required. Hilton values demonstrated leadership ability, operational expertise, and people skills above formal education. Many successful Supervisors have advanced through experience and Hilton’s internal development programs. However, a diploma or degree in hospitality management can accelerate your progression.

How quickly can I advance from Supervisor to Manager?

Advancement timelines vary based on performance, property needs, and market conditions. Typically, high-performing Supervisors can advance to Assistant Manager within 1–2 years and Department Manager within 3–5 years. Hilton’s Elevate program and global mobility options can significantly accelerate this timeline.

What is the Go Hilton travel program?

The Go Hilton program is one of the industry’s most generous employee travel benefits, providing significantly discounted room rates at Hilton properties worldwide for team members, their immediate family, and friends. Rates can be as low as $35 per night at select properties, making it an exceptional perk for hospitality professionals who love to travel.

Will I receive leadership training?

Yes. All new Supervisors complete Hilton’s leadership onboarding program, which covers coaching techniques, performance management, conflict resolution, and operational excellence. Ongoing development is available through Hilton University, mentorship programs, and regional leadership workshops.

Do Supervisors work on the floor or in an office?

Hilton Supervisors are hands-on leaders who spend the majority of their time on the floor with their teams — coaching, problem-solving, and ensuring service standards. Administrative duties (scheduling, reporting) are typically completed during quieter periods or at the beginning/end of shifts.

Do I need to speak French for positions in Quebec?

For positions in Montreal and other Quebec locations, bilingual proficiency in English and French is typically required or strongly preferred for supervisory roles, as you will be leading teams and serving guests in a bilingual environment.

Can I transfer to another Hilton property as a Supervisor?

Yes. One of Hilton’s greatest advantages is its global mobility program. Internal transfers are encouraged, and Supervisors can apply for positions at any of Hilton’s 5,100+ properties in 103 countries. Many leaders build their careers by gaining experience across multiple brands and markets.
