As a Personal Care Attendant – Medical, you will play a crucial role in providing essential care and assistance to our residents. You will be responsible for ensuring there comfort, safety, and well-being on a daily basis. Your main duties will include assisting with personal hygiene tasks, administering medication, monitoring vital signs, and providing emotional support.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff
- Assist with mobility and transfers using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided
- Follow infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for residents
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and other team members to develop personalized care plans
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
- Promote a positive and respectful atmosphere within the care home
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a Personal Care Attendant or similar role is preferred but not required (training will be provided)
- A valid work permit for Canada is mandatory
- Certification in First Aid/CPR is an asset
- A compassionate nature with the ability to provide empathetic care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift/move heavy objects or individuals if required
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as per the needs of the care home
