Job Description

Hodgson Farms is seeking motivated and reliable Market Garden Workers to assist with the cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of crops in its market garden operations in Melfort, Saskatchewan. This position involves hands-on work with vegetables, herbs, and other specialty crops, supporting daily production tasks to ensure high-quality produce for local markets.

The role is open to Canadian residents and foreign nationals who are legally eligible to work in Canada. Employer support for a work permit may be considered for qualified foreign workers in compliance with Canadian immigration regulations and farm operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant, cultivate, and maintain vegetables, herbs, and specialty crops
2. Assist with harvesting, washing, sorting, and packing produce for distribution
3. Monitor crop health and report any issues to supervisors
4. Maintain cleanliness and organization of greenhouses, fields, and storage areas
5. Operate basic farm tools and equipment under supervision
6. Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards
7. Support other general farm tasks as needed during the growing season

Qualifications & Skills

• Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Basic understanding of farming, gardening, or crop production is an asset
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team
• Reliable, punctual, and strong work ethic
• Previous experience in market gardening, farm work, or horticulture is a plus
• Basic English communication skills preferred

Salary (Per Hour)

CAD $16.50 – $18.50 per hour, depending on experience and job responsibilities, in accordance with Saskatchewan employment standards
