Job Description
Naude Farms is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Worker, General to join our grain and crop production team in Perdue, Saskatchewan. This is a full-time position offering $23.00 to $25.00 per hour with comprehensive training provided for candidates new to farming.
As a Farm Worker, General, you will be responsible for a wide range of essential tasks including soil preparation, planting, cultivating, spraying, harvesting, and grain handling. You will work with modern farm machinery and equipment under the guidance of experienced operators who will mentor you in proper techniques, safety protocols, and efficient farming practices.
This role is physically demanding but deeply rewarding for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, operating machinery, and contributing to Canada’s vital grain industry. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cultivate soil using tractors, cultivators, and harrows to create optimal seedbed conditions
- Plant, fertilize, and thin crops including wheat, canola, barley, and specialty grains according to seasonal schedules
- Operate and maintain farm machinery including tractors, seeders, sprayers, combines, and grain trucks
- Monitor crop health and growth, identifying signs of disease, pests, or nutrient deficiencies and reporting to the farm manager
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides under supervision following safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Harvest crops using combines and other harvesting equipment, ensuring minimal grain loss and maximum quality
- Handle, dry, and store grain in bins and elevators, monitoring moisture levels and temperature to prevent spoilage
- Load, unload, and transport grain, supplies, and equipment using farm trucks and trailers
- Assist with irrigation system setup, operation, and maintenance as required
- Clean and maintain farm buildings, storage areas, machinery, and equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment and tools
- Assist with fence repair, weed control, and general farm infrastructure maintenance
- Follow all farm safety, bio-security, and environmental stewardship procedures at all times
- Complete daily work logs, production records, and equipment maintenance documentation
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- No formal education required — will train suitable candidates
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions
- Comfort working outdoors in all seasons including heat, cold, rain, wind, and dust
- Basic English communication skills to understand safety instructions, follow directions, and complete records
- Willingness to work long hours during peak seasons (seeding in spring, harvest in fall) including weekends
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
Preferred
- Previous experience in grain farming, crop production, or general agricultural labour
- Familiarity with farm machinery operation including tractors, combines, seeders, and sprayers
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan crop types including wheat, canola, barley, lentils, and peas
- Class 1A or Class 5 driver’s licence with air brake endorsement for operating farm trucks
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- First Aid and CPR certification
