Job Description

Sandman Hotel Group is looking for a hands-on Restaurant Manager to run the day-to-day food and beverage operations at one of its hotel properties. This role suits someone who enjoys leading a team on a busy floor, solving problems in real time, and holding a restaurant to a consistent standard of service, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction. You’ll work closely with the Executive Chef, Front Office, and hotel General Manager to make sure the dining outlet supports the overall guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily restaurant and lounge operations, including opening/closing procedures and shift coverage
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise servers, hosts, bartenders, and support staff
  • Monitor food and labour costs, inventory levels, and vendor ordering to control the outlet’s budget
  • Ensure compliance with provincial food safety, alcohol service, and workplace health and safety regulations
  • Respond to guest feedback and resolve service issues promptly and professionally
  • Coordinate with the kitchen team on menu execution, timing, and quality consistency
  • Track sales performance and prepare regular reports for hotel leadership
  • Maintain brand service standards consistent with Sandman Hotel Group’s guest experience guidelines
  • Support staff development through ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance reviews

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Restaurant Management, or a related field (preferred)
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a restaurant, lounge, or hotel food and beverage outlet
  • Valid Food Safe certification (or willingness to obtain one) and Responsible Beverage Service certification
  • Working knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic inventory/cost-control software
  • Strong leadership, scheduling, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills in English; French or additional languages are an asset
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by hotel operations
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada
