Job Description
Chartwell Hospitality is seeking detail-oriented and reliable Housekeeping Attendants to join our housekeeping teams across multiple managed properties in Canada. As a Housekeeping Attendant, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, comfort, and overall presentation of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure every guest enjoys a memorable stay.
This is a hands-on role perfect for individuals who take pride in their work, have a keen eye for detail, and understand that a clean, well-maintained environment is essential to the guest experience. You will work as part of a collaborative housekeeping team under the guidance of an Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Supervisor, following established brand standards and safety protocols to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize guest rooms according to established standards, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, and replenishing amenities.
- Thoroughly clean bathrooms, ensuring all surfaces, fixtures, and linens meet hygiene and presentation standards.
- Replace used towels, linens, and guest amenities with fresh supplies.
- Inspect rooms for maintenance issues, damage, or missing items and report findings promptly to the supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness of public areas including lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, and fitness centers.
- Operate and maintain housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, carpet cleaners, and laundry machines safely and efficiently.
- Follow proper handling and disposal procedures for hazardous materials, biohazards, and waste.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including WHMIS and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and linens, notifying supervisors when restocking is needed.
- Respond to guest requests for additional housekeeping services in a timely and courteous manner.
- Collaborate with front desk and maintenance teams to ensure room readiness and resolve any service issues.
- Uphold the brand standards of the affiliated hotel brand (Hilton, Marriott, IHG, etc.) at all times.
- Participate in deep cleaning projects, room refreshes, and special event setups as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by hotel operations.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in hotel housekeeping, commercial cleaning, or a related field.
- Familiarity with hotel property management systems or housekeeping reporting tools.
- Knowledge of eco-friendly cleaning practices and green hospitality initiatives.
- Bilingualism in English and French (valued for Quebec and bilingual properties).
- Experience with luxury or branded hotel standards (Hilton, Marriott, IHG).
