Are you passionate about agriculture and seeking a leadership role in the farming industry? Aubin Nurseries Ltd. is currently hiring a Farm Workers Supervisor to joint our dynamic team. As a leader in nursery production, we specialize in growing high-quality trees and shrubs for commercial and residential clients across Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of farm workers engaged in planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
- Assign tasks to farm workers and ensure that work is completed efficiently and according to established procedures.
- Monitor crop health, irrigation systems, and pest control measures to maintain optimal plant growth.
- Train new farm workers on proper horticultural techniques, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
- Schedule and oversee routine maintenance of equipment, machinery, and irrigation systems.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations on the farm.
- Maintain accurate records of crop yields, expenses, and employee attendance.
- Collaborate with management to develop strategies for improving productivity and crop quality.
- Assist with the recruitment process by interviewing potential candidates for farm worker positions.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in agricultural production or a similar field is required.
- Proven experience in supervising a team of farm workers or agricultural laborers.
- Strong knowledge of horticulture practices, including planting, pruning, fertilization, pest control, and irrigation methods.
- The ability to operate farm machinery such as tractors, sprayers, loaders, etc., is essential.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills to effectively train and communicate with employees from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions as well as physically demanding tasks.
- Familiarity with Canadian agricultural regulations is an asset.
